Therapy and counseling tailored to your needs

Each of us has a unique set of experiences, challenges, and goals. Often, therapy starts with an assessment — of where you are today and where you want to be. Based on this assessment, we can make a plan for moving forward that is tailored to your needs.

We will draw from the therapeutic approaches that are best studied to your circumstances.

We might use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), or Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to help you build coping skills that you can start applying right away to make your life calmer and more balanced.

Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is useful for people who experienced trauma or have other challenges. EFT is usually a short-term treatment (8–20 sessions) and can help you build self-acceptance, feel more empowered, let go of resentments, and better communicate your feelings.

Existential Therapy is especially effective in reducing anxiety, finding meaning, and developing a sense of purpose.

Trauma has profound and long-lasting effects. Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is a specific type of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy that can empower you to evaluate and change the upsetting thoughts that come from your trauma. Trauma-focused CBT is another variant of CBT, one that focuses specifically on the impacts of trauma. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a mental health treatment technique that can enable recovery from challenges caused by experiencing traumatic life events. EMDR uses rapid eye movements and your perceptions tore-process how you think about traumatic events, with the goal of desensitization to the effects of past trauma.

In Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) you can learn to become more compassionate to others and more self-compassionate. CFT is often effective for people who experience high levels of anxiety, anger, shame, and self-criticism.

Chart your course of treatment with your counselor

Feeling heard means that you and your counselor will chart a course of treatment that responds to your needs and your wishes.

No matter what treatment approaches your counselor might recommend, you can expect care that is non-judgemental and tailored to your needs. Counseling will be culturally sensitive, respectful of your cultural context, and focused on supporting your journey.

We have the skills and compassion to meet you where you are now and support you on your journey to heal from past wounds, discover your inner resilience, and grow in a way that encourages your authentic self-expression about who you are and how you want to express yourself in the world.

Feel heard

We take the time to hear and understand you so that you truly feel heard, understood, and supported as you grow through your challenges. Working together, you can develop skills and techniques that encourage your natural self-expression and help you feel excited about your own life and future.
